Minute 3: Add readings

Add a folder full of readings to your course

Objective

Learn how to upload multiple documents at one time

Notes

When you upload multiple items it is generally most efficient to put them into the back-end filing system first. After that you can put links to individual items wherever they need to be.

Tip

Zipping a folder on a Mac

Right-/control-click on the folder and choose Compress <foldername>

Zipping a folder on Windows

Right-click and choose Send to > Compressed (zipped) folder

Summary

Upload a file of readings

  1. In the Administration bucket, click: Files
  2. Click: Upload a file
  3. Click: Browse
  4. Navigate to a zipped version of your Readings folder on your computer
  5. Click: Upload this file
  6. Find the zipped folder in your file listing on Moodle
  7. Click: Unzip in the column to the right
  8. Click: OK

Create a link to a file

  1. Go to a content area on your main page
  2. Click: Add a resource
  3. Choose: Link to a file or website
  4. Fill in a name
  5. Click: Choose or upload a file
  6. Navigate to the file you want to link to
  7. Click: Choose [to the right of the item you want to choose]
  8. Click: Save and return to course
